OfficeTalk Setup

NOTICE: A major rewrite of the Interprocess Communications in OfficeTalk has just been completed as of December 3, 1999. Please Make sure you download this latest version. Click here to download.

To start with there are several items that need to be installed on your system from the Microsoft Windows CD. You may already have several, if not all of these items, already installed. So check first and then install what's missing.

To begin with, make sure that you have

  • Client for Microsoft Networks

  • NetBEUI
  • Microsoft File and Printer Sharing
  • WinPopUp (from the windows setup CD)

installed on your computer. You can check this by right clicking on the Network Neighborhood icon and choosing properties. This will bring up a dialog box similar to the one below:

Next make sure that all the machines that are going to be talking to each other have the same workgroup ID. This is set on the next tab over from the configuration tab, called "Identification". See below:

Now go into the control panel on your system and make sure that "WinPopUp" is installed. This is part of the Win9X CD, so you may be required to have your CD ready. This is located under the "System Tools" section of the Windows Setup. See below:

This should get you going. If you have further problems, please email technical support at techsupp@helpconsulting.net
